Shanti Vellanki

Over the course of my career, I have built a reputation for being a strategic thinker, problem solver, and empathetic leader. I enjoy mentoring and coaching to help individuals succeed. I spent 15 years growing and scaling large, globally distributed teams for Fortune 100 companies. During this time, I managed engineering teams of over 120 staff and IT budgets of more than $40MM a year. My diverse technology experience includes leading multiple Digital Transformation initiatives, building eCommerce platforms, driving Engineering Excellence initiatives, leading multiple agile product development teams, leading web and mobile application development, as well as overseeing multiple infrastructure application technologies and teams. What sets me apart is my ability to be effective while leading multiple teams working on diverse technologies while being efficient in switching context between different technology topics. As a change agent, I challenge the status quo by driving changes to engineering processes and practices. I focus heavily on engineering excellence, leading with bias to action, making quick decisions, and reducing friction so my teams can get important things done efficiently. My leadership style is centered on building collaborative and high-performance teams, mentoring and coaching engineering leaders, and creating an inclusive work environment where diversity is celebrated, and every team member feels valued and respected. In my free time, I enjoy traveling the world, hiking (some serious hiking) and engaging in outdoor adventure activities. I love nature and all things outdoors. I love spending time with my wife, my son and our dog. Whenever I get an opportunity, I enjoy volunteering with various organizations, including mentoring with UCLA, APIA Scholars and Plato, and supporting local environmental protection organizations such as Save the Bay, California State Parks Foundations, Net Impact... etc.
