I’m a Software Engineer with 20+ years of experience building web applications. I’m a husband and father of three girls; please help ;) The last 10 years has been taking a startup to acquisition (the first 5 years), and then integrating into an enterprise (the second 5 years). It’s been a fascinating long-haul journey from Engineer to Director to VP. I believe that the length of time you’ve been at a company has a big impact on a given title’s mode-of-operation. Becoming a director at a company where you were once an engineer is very different from the same job starting fresh at the same company. Each is a unique and exciting journey that requires tailored wisdom, a subtly that is often overlooked and rolled into one and the same.
