I lead a distributed Twilio Engage engineering organization of 150+ across two products and across multiple disciplines. With deep roots in Segment & Segment Personas, in Twilio Messaging, and in Twilio Sendgrid, we build the systems and products that let our customers understand their users at near-real time, orchestrate experiences for those users at global scale and connect with them with omni-channel reach. We do this by focusing on high scale compute (near-real time synchronized with historical audience building), on incremental identity graphs and personalization APIs, and on marketing-first features like journeys, audience orchestration and sophisticated messaging and analytics. We are a diverse team of engineers partnered with product, operations, GTM, success, and other functions across the company to bring together the power of Segment and Twilio. I joined Twilio via our acquisition of Segment, where I led our New York engineering office, and focused on Infrastructure and our Personas product. Earlier in my career I was an early engineering leader at Anki, a robotics and AI based toy company. I also founded a healthcare technology company. My earliest professional training was at IBM, where I owned parts of the DB2 database query optimizer.
