Empowering Engineers: Strategies for Sustained Motivation
Keeping engineers motivated so that they are able to meet the expectations of an organization and consistently perform at a high level is one of the key responsibilities of an engineering leader.
Here are 5 ways in which you can keep your team motivated.
• Make sure engineers understand the impact and value of the product that they are working in making the lives of customers easier.
• Make sure engineers understand how the product that they are working on contributes to the revenue of the organization.
• Keep them on their toes w.r.t providing them continuous opportunities for growth and development by identifying and aligning work items that could be sometimes 1 or 2 levels above their current level.
• Appreciate and provide recognition of their work across the team and other business functions within the organization.
• Understand their strengths and weaknesses and have open discussions around solidifying their strengths and working on their weaknesses.
