Designing Products for Humans

Hi there, very excited to be a part of the community. My background is in Product Management and Product Design, and I have spent my career working with some of the best SaaS companies to build consumer grade products for the enterprise. That said, the principles I will share are not at all limited to business products. I will share with you how to drive engagement by designing with human psychology in mind. "Design" in this sense refers to the decisions on what to build and how to build it. Here's my complete bio if you're interested: As VP of Product Design at Gainsight, Ciara leads the global design organization across Gainsight's products. As Gainsight continues to rapidly grow, Ciara is leading several companywide initiatives to design and implement a modern and intelligent design system across new and legacy products, while innovating on the company's suite of new solutions. Prior to this, she led vision and strategy for Gainsight PX, the Product Experience platform focused on delivering insights, enabling data driven in-app customer engagement, and instantly evaluating ROI of product investments. At Box, she oversaw the company's portfolio of end user applications, including desktop apps Box Sync and Box Drive, productivity application Box Notes, Box's portfolio of mobile applications, partner integrations, and Box's flagship web application. She also led product and design from pre-revenue to series B at BetterWorks, after a 6 year run at Salesforce. During her time at salesforce, Ciara led visual design of the company and industry's first tablet application, built and led a team of designers to launch the company's sales performance management suite, and pioneered several innovations in the salesforce labs group, leading to recognition as a top inventor at salesforce 2 years in a row with 9 patents granted. Ciara enjoys travel and the outdoors, and lives in downtown San Francisco with her three rescue cats.
