Circle Description

I've been working at large, mid-sized and startup companies in consumer tech for 15 years. I've managed and lead large teams a both a TL and Manager, and I've written a lot of code. I enjoy mentoring people especially in the ways that set them up for success early in their careers ! My goal for this circle is to talk about getting set up for success in the first ~5 years of your career. Some of the topics I'd like to guide us towards - Setting expectations before and after starting a new job - Soliciting feedback and managing up your manager - Understanding your own job performance - Playing the promotion game - Finding a network of peers - Figuring out what you want in your career + how to succeed - In general, career satisfaction & growth hacks - Moving from tech-adjacent and non-SWE (SoftWare Engineer) roles (testing, customer service engineer, etc ...) into SWE roles
